"Be "Master" of your domain in PowerPoint
PowerPoint comes with a special type of slide called the Slide
Master. This is an awesome feature when you have a logo or slogan
that you would like to have appear on every slide. The slide
master controls certain text characteristics - such as font type,
size, and color - called "master text," as well as background
color and certain special effects, such as shadowing and bullet
style. The slide master contains text placeholders and placeholders
for footers, such as the date, time, and slide number.
When you want to make a global change to the look of your slides, you don't have to change each slide individually. Just make the change once on the slide master, and PowerPoint automatically updates the existing slides and applies the changes to any new slides you add. To change the formatting of the text, select the text in the placeholders and make the changes you want. For example, if you change the color of the placeholder text to blue, text on existing and new slides will be changed to blue automatically. Use the View menu to get to your Slide Master "view".
Try using this time saving feature whenever you're going for slide-to-slide consistency within any presentation!
"Be "Master" of your domain
in PowerPoint -- part 2
Last week, we learned that the Slide Master in PowerPoint allows us to make global changes to entire presentations. As an add-on to that concept, use this as a faster way to view your Slide Master area. Instead of using the View menu to access the Master Slide and further edit your presentation, simply press and hold the Shift key and click on the "Slide View" button in the lower left corner of your PowerPoint window. Shazam! You just got into Slide Master
FASTER!
Dbl click from head to toe, edit
headers/footers and off you go!
Here's an easy one - if you have a document that already has headers/footers, you don't need to go to the View menu to edit them. Instead, make sure you are in Print Layout View and just double-click the top margin area (or bottom margin area for footers) of the page and you're ready to edit! To get back out into regular document view (where headers/footers once again take a back seat to normal document text) just double click anywhere in the regular document text area.
